NEW Hybrid Publication Model from 2026

Beginning in 2026, Avar will adopt a new hybrid publication model. This model will enable accepted articles to be published online as soon as they are ready, and then compiled into a single annual volume, released near the end of each calendar year. Various forms of this model are used by many online open-access journals. This model ensures that authors’ work is available promptly and can be cited immediately, providing the editorial team with the flexibility to work with individual authors whose timelines may vary.

In addition to the articles submitted directly to Avar, our goal is that each annual volume will include at least one guest-edited section, developed around a timely theme or emerging area of interdisciplinary interest. These special sections are replacing guest-edited issues.

We sincerely hope that this new model opens up access and opportunity for a variety of contributors.
